InDesign Creations

This page is a collection of the different images I created in InDesign during the fast half of the semester for my Semester Project. I have also added the justications for each design.

Design #1 Justification

My dream business would be to open up a breakfast place in Downtown Charleston. There are not a lot of places that serve all day breakfast, especially on weekends on the peninsula. And breakfast is my favorite meal. I read the guidelines for creating a flyer and tried to follow them as much as possible while still creating something I liked. I thought the yellow was bright and would grab peoples attention. One of the guidelines was to put the most important words at the bottom, so thats why I placed the name and location of my place at the bottom. I also used text to grab their attention, by creating a special it should bring in more customers. I did not want anything with too much going on so the simple picture of the special and the border were the only other design elements I included. Ive learned that it can be better to be more simplistic than over the top.

Design # 2 Justification

The name of my fictitious artist is The Peaceful Birds. The front of my cover I based on what I usually see on other artists covers; their name, a simple picture, and the album name. The font I chose is easy to read and reminds of the 60s or 70s which is what I was going for. For continuity I used the same font throughout the cover and back. To add more color to the cover I chose two colors from the image and created a color gradient. I also looked at other artists albums to see how the back is designed. I again put the name of the artist on the back of the cover, and placed the names and lengths of the tracks in the middle of the back so they are easy to read. I created a logo that kind of goes along with the group name, Birdie records. I took the bird from a vector image and added the name of the record company to the bird. Then, I made a fake barcode and placed it in the bottom right hand corner because it would be easy to scan there.

Design #3 Justification

I wanted to design something for children; I decided to have a fundraiser for children with disabilities. To show that it was for kids I used a red, green, yellow, blue color scheme. It grabs your attention, but because I chose those colors it shows that it helps kids. The text is easy to read and looks childish. To raise money, I decided to have a carnival. So in the center of the card I put a horse from a carousel and faded it a little bit, so that what would be at the carnival would pop. I put what the event was for at the top of the card because that is what people would read first. Then I put when the event actually was and where at the end because that is the last thing people read.
